Why does China block the will of the Burmese people by supporting a murderous military dictatorship?

Do the people of China enjoy watching their neighbors suffer? Do they take vicarious pleasure in the killing of students and monks who dare to protest in peace? Do they feel weak and guilty because they haven't showed similar courage in their own country? Or have their hearts become hardened by years of constant abuse by their own government?
