How did FDR and Hoover treat the great depression similarly?

I'm not sure that they did. Hoover believed in rugged individualism, that direct aid to citizens would destroy the morality of the country. He did however support the Reconstruction Finance Corporation which gave aid not directly to the people, but to companies like banks, insurance companies, etc. I guess you could say that is similar to some of the things FDR created like the Gl-Steagall Act.
